Baby Portraits: Samantha

Samantha is one lucky girl. Not only does she have a wardrobe that I LOVE but she has some of the coolest toys around. For her portrait session she showed her style and cuteness that even the Duchess of Cambridge would long for…

Portrait Props

Props for portraits should never over shadow the  person being photographed. The props should add to the unique personality of the person or show off something that they love. Therefore when clients ask me about what props they should bring, I always suggest something that they love, that is unique to them, or something just to have fun with. Below are some examples of great props!

Props for children's portraits

However, if you can’t find a prop that you just love, we always have some options here. In fact, me our newest addition to the prop closet…or in this case room because he doesn’t fit in the prop closet.

Yes, in case you are wondering…yes that is a full size chair and foot rest…full size as in for a person that is my hubby’s height. :-)

Birthday Suit with a Twist

With all of the recent hype about Jessica Simpson and her stolen Demi Moore pregnancy pose, I thought jumping on the bandwagon was appropriate. But unlike Ms. Simpson I decided to do a twist on the birthday suit pose…because after all, there is nothing cuter than a little munchkin baby bottom.

Become a High School Senior Ambassador

The 2013 Ambassador Program is a way for high school juniors to earn discounts on their high school senior portraits! These portraits are not the standard yearbook photos but portraits that make your personality shine and stand out from those around you!

To be part of the 2013 Ambassador Program, a current High School Junior needs to apply and fill out an application. Only a select few from each school will be selected to be Ambassadors for the Class of 2013. This is because the Ambassadors get:

  • A FREE session
  • Discounts on your orders
  • Cash for each referral they send to our studio
  • And a BONUS of a free laptop or iPad if they send 10 referrals to our studios

So if you think that High School Senior portraits have to be boring and not any fun, then you haven’t had your portraits taken by Rhonda Giedt Photography. Email us to get an application to be selected to represent your High School in the 2013 Ambassador Program today!

5 Clothing Suggestions for Family Portraits

When preparing for family portraits, clothing is always a question that comes up. What to wear? Should we coordinate or not? There are several ways to answer those questions and here are five of my top suggestions.

Matchy – Matchy

Having everyone in the photo wear the same shirt and pants lends to a very cohesive look in a family portrait. This focuses the attention on you and your family and not on your clothing.

Same Tone

Another option for family portraits is to have a similar tone or color scheme with the tops and pants. As long as the tone and style are similar to each other, the photo will have a cohesive look and the attention will be on your family’s expressions.

Fun and Crazy

If you have a bigger than life personality, you may need a bigger than life outfit. This doesn’t mean costume-y or over powering. Solid colors, jewel tones, and tones that compliment your skin are great options. Be sure to consult your photographer if this is the type of outfit you want to ensure that the background will not clash with you being you!

Artsy

If an artsy, classic style is what you envision in your family portraits, then dark solid colors are a great bet.

When selecting your clothing for a family portrait, remember to reflect your personality in your clothing and bring out your wonderful, unique personality!

Portrait Session: PJ Party

I love having fun and being silly during sessions and it’s great when my clients are even one step ahead of me in the silly department! This portrait session had the theme of a PJ Party and the two sisters came dressed in the best PJs ever!  The entire session took me back to the days of sleep overs with my high school girl friends. Jump into the fun and take a look at some of the highlights from the portrait session.

And the best part…we even got Mom in for a couple of pictures too!

As you can see…there were plenty of fun and giggles to go around. Thanks girls for taking me back to the days of high school sleep overs!!

5 Must Have Wedding Photos

One of the many questions that I am asked by my brides are, which photos are a must have for the wedding day. Therefore, I have put together a list of my top 5 wedding photos that I feel help tell the entire story of my brides’ special day.

1. Details

Photography that shows off all the little details that the couple has planned over several months leading up to the wedding is a must have for me. These types of photographs will remind the couple for years to come all the special mementos that they had long after the wedding is over. They also are the little things that make the wedding so unique and may also be overlooked by the couple in the whirlwind of the day itself. This table centerpiece for the bridal sweetheart table is a perfect example of details of the wedding.

2. Getting Ready

Stepping into the wedding dress, slipping on the jacket to the tux, and laughing with their bridal party while getting ready lend to the celebration and story of the couple’s big day.

3. Ceremony

The walk down the aisle, the vows, and of course the kiss! I’m tearing up just thinking of how romantic and amazing the wedding ceremony is for couples! It goes by so fast and means so much which is why getting photographs from every angle to capture that moment is key.

4. Bride and Groom

You’re married – YEAH! Now is the time to capture those very special, super romantic photos of just the two of you.

5. Reception Festivities

The celebration is in full swing and capturing all of those great events that happen during the reception is a must have! That includes the first dance, cutting the cake, tossing the garter, the speeches, and all of those great moments throughout the reception that shows how excited everyone is for the couple getting married.

These are the types of photographs that I feel are a must have for every wedding and allow for the couple to experience their wedding over and over again for years to come.

Family Portraits in the Park

Michelle and her family get family portraits every year which is pretty cool to see how fast her little munchkin grows. Ian kept everyone smiling and even managed to “tickle me” to keep me on my toes. Enjoy some of the photos from the family portrait session in the park, on a gorgeous day, with a really fun family!

And of course we had to get some just by himself…

I can’t wait to see how much he has grown next year and will have to learn to run faster to escape the “tickles”.

Newborn Photography: Ben

Ben is a cute little munchkin that I had the pleasure of meeting at 5 days old. He has the most adorable faces and I can’t believe I didn’t wake him up with my giggling. Don’t believe me, here are some of the photos from the newborn photography session.

This looks sums up what every child thinks of their parents kissing.

Ben loved the little suitcase I posed him in. He just kicked back and added his own flare to the photo.

But like all little munchkins, at the end of the session it was time to go back to sleep. One last yawn and off to dreamland he went.I can’t wait to see how much you grow in the coming year and hope those cute little faces you make stick around for a while.
